my sports team is going to have its next 3-4 games on Fox Sports Southwest, which I currently don't get b/c of the contract dispute between Dish & Fox. I am considering switching to DirecTV but its a supreme pain-in-the-rear to do so. My question is... for those of you familiar with these types of disputes...how much longer will Dish hold out? Should I switch now b/c its going to be another MONTH & I'm gonna miss my favorite team playing? Or do we expect a resolution any day now? How do these contract disputes usually go? Are we talking a few more days (its been 11 days) or weeks or months or what? I mean I know nobody KNOWS but whats the typical duration of a holdout/dispute like this? Thanks in advance

I don't know how long it will be, but the important thing is for Fox that this is the first contract that is negotiated. This one will set the precedence as DirecTv is next to be in negotiations. So they can't afford to let this just blow over.

Let me know if you are going to go to directv, I have a referral code that will get you a 100 instant rebate that I would be very appreciative if you use.

These things usually drag along until the last possible deadline minute, so don't hold your breath about any solution before November 1. I've spoken with DISH's 'Executive Management Team" member and they frankly don't give a s**t. They are not intimidated by threats to cancel service at all. Fox is probably being a bit arrogant, trying to ride the coatails of its successful news programming, but if Direct TV pays the fee, and dozens of cable systems are, too, DISH might want to wake up and smell the coffee. Or we consumers need to do the same and find a more responsive provider.

Who knows? If it is not on before the Regular Season of NBA starts I'm going to be mad.

I had cable but Fox Sports blackout the games because the cable company could not get a contract with Fox Sports so I get Dish Network and it is the same thing over again.

we did not want to wait and made the switch to Directv but I suppose that will get hit next. Back in the day, there was similar issues with satalite providers and local channels and it was a mess and everyone said it would be resolved in 6 months but it took almost 4 years in my area.

If you're that set on seeing the games make the switch. Last year DirecTV dumped Versus and it took them a full year to reach an agreement.

good for Glen, I relatively have ignored him. i've got been considering giving up Comcast and switching to the Dish community and this could only tension my hand. i like Glenn. I relatively have discovered lots from him. He speaks in common English and in spite of the undeniable fact that i do no longer consistently believe him, I relatively have in no way felt he lied. great information!

It depends if you feel comfortable waiting, if 3 weeks is enough then go for it but if you want to be on the safe side and change than go ahead, it is impossible to tell when TV wants to come back.

By the way do you like soccer?

Good luck
