What do you think of TV shopping channels?

For the first time i was watching shopping channels on TV, I hadn't really took much notice of them before...BID DOWN i think it was called (UK)...Very tempted to buy some xmas gifts....Are they really bargains or is there some catch? What are your experiences of them?

for people like myself (limited mobility) they can be very useful, but as *gingertod* mentioned you have to be aware of P&P, plus the call to bid is around £1.50 so think of that as well, today i bid on 2 mens aftershaves and got a massive bargain (also taking into account the P&P) just try to not get caught up in the moment and try to judge if "you" think you are getting value, i for one have certainly had some rather good buys. good luck to you!

Some of them are great, Bid tv and Price-drop tv are two examples even when you take into consideration the postage and phone call costs you are still getting real bargains compared to what you would have to pay on the high street for the same item, my family has saved lots of money and you don't have the inconvience or cost of having to park up your car in the car park, pay for the priveledge and then get caught up in queues. If you want to be a mug and pay the rip off prices most shops charge in the high street thats up to you, some people on here obviously don't know what a real bargain is even when it looks them straight in the face that or they haven't even seen these channels, you always put the postage cost on top and work out overall price before you bid, if its still really cheap with the postage costs added on top then you should go for it, you can always bid online if you don't want the cost or hassle of a phone call. I don't bother with QVC and Ideal world as I find their stuff to be more on the pricey side, I don't have Sky so I can't comment on any other shopping channels that may be found on there. I still do conventional shopping as well but these channels can offer great quality items at affordable prices. There have been no catches when i've bought items, but you must be at least eighteen years of age with a major debit (not just credit) or credit card. Also when you ring up to return an item you may have to talk to an indian call centre person who sometimes is difficult to understand, so only buy an item if you are genuinely interested not on impulse, otherwise..HAPPY SHOPPING!

My mother loves them - she watches more QVC in a week then I watch TV in a month. It has good prices but I like to actually go to the shop and talk to the staff - I find personal service worth the extra cash. I could buy music from play.com very cheaply but usually go to Hellraiser in York as the guy there is really helpful and recommends things that I will like. So although I think these channels are good in some ways I do not like to use them myself.

I would not buy jewlery from it unless they specificlly say it is not authentic. I love to watch shopping channels when I am sick. It does not require much concentration and I love it when there are those counters down at the bottom. :-) Just make sure the item you are getting, could not rip you off, such as a TV, or a Bath Set. I would just stay clear or things that could be fake. Anything that comes with a certificate, "Gold" jewlery, so forth. Have fun tuning in!

When I lived in the states I shopped on QVC quite alot and bought some jewelry too, the quality was very good. Not sure about the Uk though have never tried.

There is no catch in TV shopping.They sell stuff just like a shop but on TV.I watch TV shopping channels they are so much entertainment but the prices are little too much.

I really like QVC got a load of stuff from there not had to send any of it back. Just bought something couple hours ago there "todays special value" everynight at midnight is worth watching. Tonight it is a beautiful doll that cries, laughs, drinks and burps for under £20.00 plus postage and packing. Another present for my grand daughter, she will love it.

you can get some real bargains on the bidding channels - beware the p&p you have to pay though

also beware the paid adverts that are selling excerise equipment that does the excersise for you & the miracle wrinkle creams

It's actually bid-up tv.

I've watched quite a few of them,and they seem like bargains until you see the price of the phone call and the p+p.

The ones like gems-t.v,where you only pay one p+p,no matter how much you buy is a lot better for value.

I've bought stuff of price-drop,and i had a lot of trouble contacting them by phone,and through their web-site.

have got some really good bargains on these progs. you have to be sure you want the item before you bid and you have to pay by credit card. keep watching

Those channels are for fat American slobs who have credit cards and the phone by their fat elbows and who are just too damn lazy to get a life.

they are what they say shopping channels. If you browsed the shops and saw what they were selling would you buy it, would you want it. Probably not, you would have walked passed it. So saved yourself money.

I really dont like them. Everything is way overpriced and not even really worth buying. Though one time i saw one that sold football and sports stuff that was pretty cool

i've got in basic terms ever order issues from QVC and had no issue with them, cost Drop have the worst popularity going for no deliveries and no refunds except you hound the hell out of them, my chum ordered a gold chain from them final year, it by no ability arrived yet it took her the better area of three months to get her a refund.

i haven't had any experiences but i think they should get rid of them because it just shows how lazy people are if they don't get out of the house and go get the things that want

they ripped me off for 100 quid! I had ordered something and after taking the money out my bank they kept on taking it.
