I know that Doctor Who is the longest running and "most successful" sci-fi show, but I'm curious as to which show was the first sci-fi show ever. I want to know what it was that led and inspired this beautiful genre.

Twilight Zone was hardly the first SciFi Television Program. The first was a kids show called "Captain Video and his Video Rangers" it aired from 1949-1955. Years Before the Twilight Zone.
The first adult themed SciFi was the anthology series "Tales of Tomorrow" which aired from 1951-1953.

Buck Rogers debuted on TV in 1950, although it had first appeared as a short film at the worlds fair in 1933 and as a movie serial in 1939
