No, you heard right -- the acronym is "LUDs" (similar to MUDs) "Local Usage Detail" (apparently MUDs is "Metro Usage Detail") which is a list of someone's local telephone calls.

LUD (or LUD’s) is an acronym for “Local Usage Details”; a detailed record of local calls made and received from a particular phone number. By virtue of Title III of the 1968 Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act, law enforcement officials can indeed obtain these records with a court order provided there is enough reasonable cause to suspect that the communication equipment was material to a specific crime.



Much to the chagrin of Civil Liberties groups, in August 1999, the FCC began providing law enforcement authorities access to the record of cells through which cellular phone calls are routed, essentially for the same purpose, however, since there is a somewhat lesser expectation of privacy in cell phone communications many of the laws pertaining to land-line telephone calls do not apply. Often a court will allow law enforcement agencies to subpoena these types of records

as part of a criminal investigation from the service provider and the end-user won’t even know the incident has taken place.

Its a good way to start. The place lets you to do a no cost phone scan simply to find out if any telephone data is there. This basic alalysis is done without cost. For a full detailed report its a modest payment.



Here's Reverse / Whose Number Lookup page. If you're talking about cell phones, you usually have to pay for that. I've had pretty good luck just using Google a phone number to find out who's calling. If you are researching a quantity of numbers, though, I suppose, you might want a service. I can't imagine why the average person would need to research a quantity of numbers, though, so I assume this is business-related, and it then seems only fair that you pay for a service. But maybe it's not.

L.U.D.S. are the LOCAL USAGE DETAILS that most states{&Provinces} use to aquire the records of a person's local calls on the telephone they have registered in their name, or the telephone that is registered to a particular address, usually the address of the person they are investigating.

A cell phone L.U.D.S. are sometimes harder to get, as some criminals use what they call a throw away, which is a cell phone that is purchased for that particular crime use only & then disposed of by various means. Police are gettig better at locating throw away numbered phones due to the use of today's techonaligy.
