Most of my problems are with female actors who seem to mumble or talk too fast. ex: Kelly in CSI Miami. Katie Couric comes through loud and clear on CBS News. Is it me or the programs?

It may be because news reporters are trained to speak more clearly. I turn on the captions on most shows.

Aging ears lose the bility to interpret high pitch sounds;e.g., female voices, also lose the ability to distinguish words when there is background voices or noise. Soon 50% of the population will use the closed captioning which is very limiting unless you are one of those rare speed readers.

I like CSI. I like CSI: N.Y. but I stopped watching CSI Miami because I could not understand them either.

Kally in CSI Miami speaks very softly and mumbles...I can't understand her either!
