Why am I the only one that has figured out that all American Idol singers are now lip syncing? They aren't lip syncing to the professional singers songs. They are lip syncing to their own taped "safe" version!
I think is was three years back that the contestants kept messing up the lyrics when it came to the voting shows. All of a sudden they ALL got better. Do you think viewers would have kept watching all the mess ups? Seeing good singers puts money in the show's pockets. I think Idol is letting the singers tape their own songs without being able to make them better. Then they lip sync to their own version for the TV show. It's obvious! Do you realize how hard it is to sing and dance without hearing it in your voice? Do you remember Jon Peter Lewis's version of Elvis's "A Little Less Conversation"? He danced all over the place, but the song was perfect. Ghee I wonder why? I bet the show won't let a reporter verify my feelings!?!

You are completely incorrect. Yes, it's extremely difficult, if not impossible to sing well live if you cannot hear yourself. But that is why they have monitors. When I say "monitors", I'm talking about musical monitors. These are speakers in the front of the stage that face the performer so they can hear themselves. Professional musicians, singers and bands use them all the time. Sometimes singers use in-ear monitors (you often see drummers with these because it's so critical for them to keep time), but many prefer on stage monitors so they can interact better with the live crowd. Haven't you ever noticed on American Idol when the crowd is really loud or when an otherwise exceptional performer suddenly has a pitch problem? It's because they couldn't hear the monitors. The reason the contestants perform better in recent seasons is because they ARE better. They've gotten more selective and the talent pool has increased. And perhaps producers of the show have provided more rehearsal time with the band or better monitoring equipment. Don't assume these guys are faking it. These contestants work really hard trying to make their dreams come true. Don't knock them down.

The problem with this theory is that there are live performances, and since the press loves to expose scandals, that they haven't noticed this seems to be a good sign that they aren't lip synching.

And what would be the point of critiquing them if they prerecorded the music? It doesn't seem likely to me.

Oh, STOP! Who are you going to get to sync for amateurs...MORE amateurs??? What would be the point??? There is A HUGE AMOUNT of undiscovered talent out there. Are you telling me that in the HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS of auditions they have they can't find 12 genuinely talented people? Are you perhaps one of the rejects from the auditions???
